When Sidhs arrived on the planet, they proposed to save it… They demanded that a Covenant be sealed in exchange. What’s so surprising about asking for something against your own life ?
The choice was simple: submit to rules to live in accordance with this new terraformed environment. In their eyes, this could only be a good thing. It was to allow all, the Natives as well as their Descendants, allow to live serenely.
But some Natives entered into this Covenant a form of coercion. Behind this supposed benevolence, there was only a subtle form of tyranny and slavery. They were asked to abandon their civilisation, to renounce their achievements to submit to an order they knew nothing about. The Sapiens had just affirmed their will not to accept the Covenant.
Relying on oneself, relying only on one’s peers, was the only solution in their eyes. Technology – their legacy – would allow them to return to a decent life, regardless of the challenges ahead, they were ready. They turned their backs on what they thought was the ease.

By contrast, other Natives entered this Covenant a fresh start. Without accepting it, they wanted to improve their lives. Most of all, they wanted to turn their back on the past. That fratricidal wars were only a distant memory was an end in itself. Aes’sidhs did not regard the Covenant as a constraint, but as the hope of a better life.
Accepting to move into the unknown was the only solution for them. They didn’t know what to expect, but they wanted to be optimistic. Things had to change, they were afraid, but they felt ready. They turned back on what they felt was the fear of change.
The image was made by alternating between Midjourney (V5.2 and V6), LeonardoAI. Each statue was designed separately before being added each time as a parameter. The fountain in the background was made in Photoshop with the help of Firefly and effect layers.
One of the most complicated compositions I have made to date.
