Location

Gallinaceous living near water points in the Case, near Ambrosia.

Physiognomy

This chubby bird walks most of the time on the ground. Not that he does not know how to fly but it sometimes forgets that it can do it. This excess of confidence is mainly related to the particular faculty of its feathers. Indeed, its plumage has the ability to adapt to its environment. This is due to the way its feathers reflect light. This makes it difficult to hunt.

Il n’existe pas de différence notable entre les mâles et les femelles. Les juvéniles sont identifiables par leur petite taille, comme par la forme de leur corps, globalement ovale plutôt que rond.

The reed hen feeds almost exclusively on worms. This monodiet would make its meat very digestible.

Behaviour

The reed hen has the unfortunate habit of forgetting that it can fly when it is panicked. If spotted despite its effective camouflage, after an unsuccessful escape attempt, the bird tends to go into cardiac arrest.

Anecdote

A rite of passage for Aessi hunters is to ask a seeker to hunt the bird. The phrase “run like a reed hen” is insulting.
